The Sutter Memorial Archives are the archives of the Metropolitan New York Synod (MNYS) ELCA and its predecessor bodies. The archives contains records dating to the founding of the New York Ministerium by Johann Kunze (the son-in law of Henry Melchior Muhlenberg, the father of American Lutheranism) in 1786, and pre-synodical materials from the early days of the Lutheran church in New York.
